This piece, entitled "Lineage," is one of my yarn pollocks.
I was really interested in Jackson Pollock and abstract expressionism, which was dominated by men. So I took a medium that tends to be more associated with women (yarn and embroidery floss) and used it to create abstract expressionist pieces.
This used just one skein of yarn completely unbroken, a continuous line tangled into one piece. This skein of yarn was my grandmother's. It's representative of the women in our family and our connections to fiber art.
